Video - Could-have-been love story

I stumbled onto this on youtube... And I find it kinda sad - sad but smartly done.

I know I've done the delete dance until I find the right thing to say and the right way to say it (I do it everyday for me job ;)), but I know I also measure what I say in person the same way.

Perhaps the old adage of "turning your tongue six times in your mouth before speaking" integrated (ctrlA+del)x6 in the latest update patch. : รพ

Not sure I agree with the proposed moral of the story.
I guess it's a matter of degree and point of view.

  1. This video is very cute, but you're right in that it over-simplifies. Imagine the opposite case where two people are being polite but really want to tell each other off. It's great to be open and honest when it's positive...not so much when it's not.

  2. Quite right!

though the rules to human interaction are very rarely universal, and are mostly circumstantial.

Oftentimes, in the long run I find it more practical (not necessarily easier) to be open with my disagreement. Open and unflaggingly courteous/reasonable.

I rarely get angry, but when I do, the angrier I get, the more formal and polite I get. And then there's a threshold of fury, if I cross it I break into middle English and people look at me funny. ; j

  3. I tend to be so much more romantic and sweet tongued when I am texting or writing. It is real life, up close and personal communication that totally throws me.

  4. I have to remember to watch this when I can play video. I keep remembering at the wrong times. Tomorrow.

  5. Heya Maria!
Hmm... Why do you think that is? Do you find it easier to express your emotions through the intellectualized buffer of asynchronicity? Or is it something inherent to the written means of communication?

I find myself to be much more glib in text, than in person... But I'm told I'm just as glib in person, but only if I like the person I'm talking to... Maybe when we talk by text we can pick who we are talking to, so to some extent there is a preselection going there?

    Aloha Theresa!
Don't sweat it, you aren't missing much. Just a video that sparked a thought... If you'd like I could give you a written summary?

It's a tale of star crossed lovers- in a world gone MAD! With 1000 elephants! Joking of course... But the offer is serious.

  6. This video is so sweet!I know I do it a lot when IMing with somebody I don't know so well. With friends I tend to just blurt out whatever though, because it's easier that way ;)

  7. Heya Mia, welcome to PGPG!

Interesting! That's another angle on the issue.
Makes sense. Though I suspect that over all, it's the opposite for me.
Tangentially, that reminds me of a story about a not-so-famous Zen martial artist who once said "I make my important life-altering decisions in a heartbeat, and I linger on deciding what I shall have for dinner."
