Photos - Meeting cool people and playing games

Ok, in the previous post were some images of what I've been up to over the past two months or so... I took over a thousand pictures during that time and yet I missed taking some pictures of one of the coolest people I met during my trip: Zoe Courtman (http://zoecourtman.blogspot.com/).
She was as awesome, interesting, and weird (in the best of ways) as you'd expect, and I got to meet one of her cool friends too (shoutout to Swathi!).
Zoe's been swept away by writing, life, and the universe... I admire people who are so fully invested in what they do!

So, instead I have a little game for you... mystery pictures!
Anyone care to guess what these are? : j

  1. How cool you got to meet Zoe Courtman.

I think the 2nd one is a votive. Is the 4th one a tree? The 1st one could be a parking meter. The 3rd one might be science related.

I know that last picture is the moon...

  2. Hmmm. 1st one: Safe Deposit Box. 2nd: A Luminary. 3rd: Egg Crate Foam. 4th: A bry brown Snap Pea. How'd I do?

    Howdy Theresa!
Yeah, we had a good time. It was my first time meeting a fellow blogger.

    Aloha Annie!
You did pretty well... And swiftly too!

  4. Nice pictures, Alesa, thanks for posting them... ;)
Can't resist giving it a shot.

1: Obviously a Yale lock, but the hell if I know where from.

2: Now that one really got me puzzled... Nothing remotely resembling an idea (unless of course it's just a weird lamp).

3: Egg-crate foam; the shape suggests some carrying case for a musical instrument, perhaps (definitely not a firearm).

4: A dry carob pod (or more probably half a dry carob pod, seeing how nicely sunlight shines through it).

Not sure how I fared, but it sure is fun trying to figure it out. :)

  5. ooooh it must have been awesome meeting Zoe and hanging out, Alesa! I am dying to meet blog friends, so watch out for my next trip to Paris ;-)

I haven't been on this blog in so long, but with QfF on hiatus, I decided I simply had to come find you again!

Thanks for playing! I'm posting the answers tomorrow! : j

Kuairi Sangu! LoL, well... If you come to Paris, come in early fall of early summer. Most of the rest of the year Paris is grimy slushie. ; j
    Nice to read you!

  7. wow, really interesting pics! The first one looks like some kind of plaque, the second- some kind of lamp, the third reminds me of my father's recording studio- there was that eggcarton type foamy stuff covering all the walls, the fourth looks like some kind of plant leaf...

  8. Heya Katie! Fancy meeting you here. : j

    So, solutions time!

    1) As Annie had guessed, it's an old style safe deposit box I saw in post office. I'll post a larger picture this weekend.

    2) The second as you all guessed is a kind lamp... To be precise, it's a votive candle in a ceramic luminary from our pot shop. : j I'll snap a picture of it lit from the outside and put it up.

    3) Only Katie got the third, it is indeed a sound studio. One of the ones from my workplace.

    4) Shi Ronglang was the closest with this one. It's not a carob seed pod, but an acacia seed pod, backlit by sunlight.

  12. That moon shot is astonishing!

I've been looking at micro four-thirds cameras: point and shoot size (ish) but with interchangeable lenses and full manual control. The Olympus Pen, for example. Am now hoping Canon or Nikon get in on the act by April.
