Aloha friends, I'm taking off for some R&R in Ireland.
I leave you with this video straight from Japan that may amuse no one but myself.
As a piece of tangential trivia: the face on the side is a japanese smiley!
Take care y'all, see you in a week or so.
R & R in Ireland! I am so jealous! What's the Japanese face for that???? Have a great time!
ReplyDeleteI've been checking for a post. Glad to see a new one is up. Unfortunately, I'm at school so I can't watch the video. As a very famous shamed governor of California once said, "I'll be back."
ReplyDeleteHA HA HA HA HA! A machine whose sole function is to switch itself off whenever someone switches it on... Not sure why, but I love that!
ReplyDeleteSort of a materialized sophism.
As for the horizontal smileys, I wonder why they're not catching on in the West... My Chinese/Japanese/Korean friends use them all the time (some of the most popular Chinese typing softwares even have shortcuts to them), and I'd say they allow more variety and fine-tuning than the now-classic 90° rotated type.
Oh well... (≙‿≙)
That is a useless machine. It's not clear what it actually does. But I do like its rebel attitude.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a nice time in Ireland. This is the same time I was there last year. Hope you had better than we've been having in New England.
Wild - very Japanese
ReplyDeleteenjoy Ireland xx
OOoh ireland! Lucky duck!
ReplyDeleteBrilliantly bananas. Hope Ireland is marvellous.
ReplyDeleteOh wow there are comments... Have been asleep at the helm or what! : p Hello everyone! What are you all doing in this dusty place! I'm back, we had a great time driving around and eating breakfasts... And visiting old stones too!
ReplyDelete-
Heya Annie! The asian smiley for going abroad would clearly be \(^o^)/ "Yay, traveling!"
But now I'm back.
So it's ( ´ ▽ ` )ノ "Hiya, I'm back!"
And ( ̄ー ̄) "I had an awesome time!"

G'day Theresa! It's purpose is to shut itself off! Imagine if it were installed on light switches as an "energy saving device"... Oh the epic battle people would have. : D The weather was mixed... At times it was dramatically tempestuous, at times ominously dappled in shadow and light. And we even got some brilliant sunlight... We enjoyed the variety!

Aloha Shi Ronglang, I'm glad it tickled you as much as it did me! And yeah, Asian smileys are a lot more expressive and personalisable... They're more closely related to ascii art than their western counterparts. : j
