Video - The adventures of Todd Bieber

I was reading through Boing Boing this morning when I happened upon a heartening video posted by Mark Frauenfelder (a boingboing regular)... It was about a seditious NYC criminal named Todd Bieber who defied the law and created beauty where naught but waste and refuse had lain.

Ok, perhaps that's over-dramatising a bit, he is a filmmaker and humanity adventurer who planted flowers and vegetables...

Here's the skinny on that tale (which happens to tangentially tie-into my next post):
Part 1

Part 2

This story made me smile and set out to do my research (aka poke around the net) before posting about it... And discovered that it wasn't Todd's first adventure of this sort!

If you're like me and you missed the tale of the lost film that came to an end in March, watch the saga unfold through these 3 videos:

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Good stuff! Right up there with shipping bobcats instead of chairs on ebay. : j

  2. I had seen the lost film film, but not the vigilante garden one, and it has filled me with such smiles. The bit about the tomato stands was particularly gratifying.

  3. You made up for all that time without posting. I love the transformation of the dirt into the beautiful garden. And very cool pictures.

  4. Aloha Deniz, always a pleasure to spread good stories.

Oh hey, I forgot to ask in my comment earlier, is your blog impermeable to your foes? : j

I had fun briefly daydreaming about a blogger who would actually be a maia living hidden amongst us. One who be using her blog to bring wisdom and beauty into the world of Man. Naturally, her powers would befuddle those unfriendly to her, leading them astray from her blog and instead to a video of Rick Astley on roller skates.

    Aloha Eryl.
    Wonderful random acts of kindness...
I just went out a ways with my eight winged boots to get a large folding table for Khnoum and I was flying back with the fairly ungainly object tucked under an arm when a dapper silver-hair astride a bicycle levels up with and says, "You fly very well! Were you ever an albatross?". :D

Heya Theresa, I've been pretty reg'lah... At least one a month. : j
Or did you mean I made up for my exemplary lack of typos of late (through the less than exemplary means of not posting) by filling this post with them? Egad, there were at least half a dozen of the scurrying little critters! : j

  5. Bad ass gardener? I'm in love. The snowy blizzard is going to have to wait until I get home lest I be fired. What a fun project, and productive. Sometimes we just have to take oppotunity by the horns and say pffffft to the nay-sayers.

  6. Wow, this is such a cool project. I had never heard of it before. I respect anyone with a green thumb. So inspiring!

  7. Ooh, I wonder if it is, Alesa?
If I get a snarky commenter I'll try to find out if they've been RickRolled - that's such a good idea!

  8. Aheya Annie! I'll bet you liked the story of the gardener. As I recall you have a taste for and a history of growing things yourself. : j

Ahoyhoy Julie, people with green thumbs? Like yourself for having grown a pumpkin patch princess? ; j

A mere regular rickrolling would seem rehashed and tired, that's why it would have to be Rick Astley on roller skates in order to renew the whole rollicking rollercoaster of a meme. : j
