Some of the long time followers may remember that I
posted about a project called
Young me Now me... Well, they now have
a blog which posts a Young me/Now me picture every day.
----------
They've also now pushed the concept further and have created a variant called "
Like Mom Like Dad", adult children posing to recreate pictures of their parents... Which is a further dose of awesome! It's touching to read and see how these people have gotten better acquainted with their parents or pay tribute to them as they go about recreating these pictures.
What a cool idea! Maybe I'll try it :)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE this. I did something like this with the 2 boys I raised in New York City. I went back with them as teenagers and tried to recreate a a 15-years-ago scene. I'm going to have to go dig that picture up.
ReplyDeleteI found it. It's in this post: CLICK
ReplyDeleteYou have to see this too: CLICK
ReplyDeleteLol Kass! You tricky trickster! Irina Werning was going to be my post for next monday! : j
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link to your new york recollections! It's interesting to learn more about your past.
I didn't mean to steal your thunder. Post it anyway. I don't think anyone has clicked on my link except you.
ReplyDeleteI was only teasing!
ReplyDeleteJoking briefly set aside, I find it immensely pleasing that our common interest brought us to discover the same thing. : j
Alesa, I LOVE this! What a great idea. I especially like the parent/child comparisons. I remember looking at photo of my mother laughing once and comparing it to a photo of me laughing in almost exactly the same way - and being stunned by the uncanny resemblances! :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful idea. I actually like seeing the children recreate the parents' photos best. I'm going to look at more of them.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea. I love the photos here. I'll definitely have the check out the other blog. Thanks for the link :)
ReplyDeleteHeya Sangu! That must be nice... To have a visual connection to your family. That's the genetic lottery for you, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes wheelbarrow (as in how many surrealists does it take to change a light bulb? Blue cassowary.)... You seem to have come up with a winning ticket on several levels! : j

Hmm... From a photography point of view I find the the picture of the same person more interesting, to see the effects of time and life... But from a story, social, human point of view I dig the parent child pictures more.

Heya Rosie! Nice to see you. : j
Glad you liked these pictures!
Of course you're free to check out the other blog if you feel like it... But I wouldn't recommend it as it has been stalled since October.
This is a great idea and the pictures are amazing!!
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful concepts.
